What to Expect

Your first visit is our opportunity to gather information about your problem or condition and determine if chiropractic care can help you.  When you arrive at our office you will be welcomed by our staff and taken on a tour of our office.  After your short tour to familiarize you with our office, you will be asked to fill out our necessary patient forms to help us gain some information about you and your condition.  You can save time on your first visit by printing off these FORMS from our website and filling them out ahead of time.

Consultation

Dr. Broghammer will ask you specific questions regarding your condition.  Your history is an important factor in determining whether you can benefit from chiropractic care.  If Dr. Broghammer does not feel you are a chiropractic candidate he will refer the doctor that will be able to help you the most.

Examination

We will perform a complete chiropractic examination to gather a better understanding of what is causing your particular problem.  This exam will include several specific tests to evaluate your height, weight, balance, and flexibility (Range of Motion).  Also a series of orthopedic and neurologic test will be performed to evaluate the condition of your spine and function of your nerves.  Everyone who comes to our office will be examined to ensure we can provide the highest quality of chiropractic care.

X- Ray

X-rays are a very useful tool in determining the cause of your particular condition.  They provide the doctor with additional information that cannot be determined from a consultation and examination alone.  The need for X-rays is determined by the doctor on an individual basis.  However, X-rays are routinely taken for new patients who have not been to a chiropractor before or have had a significant injury.  If you have recent X-rays that were taken elsewhere we will request they be sent to our office and reviewed by Dr. Broghammer.

Report of Findings

Once Dr. Broghammer has reviewed your history, examination, and X-rays he will give you a report of findings.  Typically this report of findings takes place on your second visit so the doctor can take the needed time to review your case.  During your report of findings Dr. Broghammer will explain in detail the cause of your problem and recommend a necessary plan of care to treat it.  After he has thoroughly explained your condition and answered your questions, Dr. Broghammer will begin treatment that day with an adjustment and any other necessary therapy.

Treatment

We provide a style of adjusting that is gentle and, most importantly, effective.  Many of our patients will begin to see results and get relief from their first adjustment.    In addition to chiropractic adjustments we will use therapies such as electrical muscle stimulation and kinesiotape to facilitate your healing process.  Also, many of our patients will go through a corrective stretching and strengthening exercise program to address any muscle or posture imbalances.  These exercises are incorporated to help regain the function and movement that is lacking in many of our new patients’ spines.
