Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a natural healthcare science based on the principle that the body has the inborn ability to regulate and heal itself. One point where the body is vulnerable is where the nerves of the spinal cord exit between the bones of the spine. Improper spinal motion or position can irritate the spinal nerves, cause pain, and negatively affect the body’s natural ability to maintain health. This loss of proper motion or position is referred to as a SUBLUXATION. The role of the chiropractor is to detect and remove any subluxations, thus restoring proper health and function.

Chiropractic care often  focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health.  Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.  Dr. Broghammer uses several adjusting  techniques properly align the spine and extremites to restore proper function of the spine and nervous system.  Adjustments are safe, comfortable, effective, and tailor-made for each patient based on their needs.

Rehabilitative Exercises

Many of our patients benefit from our rehabilitative exercise program.  We will teach you how to properly stretch and strengthen your areas of complaint.  The exercises we teach you can be performed in our office as well as in the comfort of your own home.  Performing these exercises not only helps you get better faster, but will help make lasting changes to keep you well.

Physiotherapy

Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is provided in order to speed up the recovery process and help your body heal as quickly as possible.  This treatment feels like a gentle massage and is used combination with chiropractic adjustments to ease sore or tense muscles.  EMS uses small electrical impulses to cause your muscles to gently contract.  The impulses are administered through adhesive pads which are place on or around the treatment area.  Most patients experience significant pain relief and truly enjoy the relaxing sensation of the treatment.

Cryotherapy or “cold therapy” is utilized by applying cold packs to the injured area to decrease inflammation and aide in the recovery process.

Sports Physicals

Dr. Broghammer routinely performs sports physicals for many student athletes.  We have flexible scheduling and can perform the physicalthe same day it is schedules; no more 3 without having to wait for 3 weeks to see your doctor  We want to make sure our athletes are able to safely compete at their highest level.  It is not necessary to be a current patient to schedule a sports physical, simply bring the appropriate school physical form and we will take care of the rest.  Walk-in sports physicals are always welcome.

Kinesiotape (K-Tape)

Kinesiotape is used to help support and strengthen the body’s natural healing properties.  Unlike athletic tape which restricts motion, kinesiotape is flexible and elastic.  When applied directly over the injured or problematic area K-tape lightly pulls on the muscles and joints to provide you with gentle support while allowing you to move freely.  This elastic tape works with your muscles and joints do their jobs more easily.  Also, the tape gently pulls the skin away from the underlying tissue, allowing for increased blood and lymph flow to the region, which assists in the healing process.
