Dr. Nathan Broghammer was born in Cedar Rapids and raised in the nearby town of Coggon. He grew up the second oldest in a family of five children. His interest in chiropractic sparked after suffering a severe low back injury while learning to barefoot water ski. The injury prevented Dr. Broghammer from walking or bending without experiencing intense, sharp pain. The day after the accident he went to the chiropractor and received significant pain relief from his first chiropractic adjustment. Dr. Broghammer continued treatment and within a week he had almost completely recovered and could move without pain.
This experience with chiropractic is one he would not soon forget. His ambition to “do something in the medical field” quickly evolved into “I’m going to be a chiropractor”. Dr. Broghammer graduated from high school with the dream of becoming a chiropractor and never looked back.
Dr. Broghammer received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA in 2008. He graduated with honors and learned the latest in spinal adjusting techniques, diagnosis, and physiotherapy. The Doctor of Chiropractic program requires over 300 credit hours and 4,500 class room hours to be completed over the course of three and one third years.
During his tenure at Palmer, Dr. Broghammer participated in a Clinic Abroad trip to Vietnam. While overseas he adjusted hundreds of underprivileged patients and provided a great humanitarian service while gaining invaluable hands-on experience. It is his wish to utilize his years of training and experience to create a better, healthier community one patient at a time.
Prior to attending Palmer College of Chiropractic Dr. Broghammer earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Simpson College in Indianola, IA. He was extremely involved with campus activities including Residence Life Staff, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, and the Simpson Wrestling Team. Dr. Broghammer earned Academic All-American honors in 2004 and 2005 as a member of the Storm Wrestling Team. Dr. Broghammer Received his high school education from North-Linn High School in Troy Mills, IA
Currently Dr. Broghammer resides in Cedar Rapids and has been married to his wife Rachel since 2009. On August 2nd, 2011 Nathan and Rachel welcomed the arrival of their son Owen Thomas. They are the proud owner of a wonderful Maltese dog named Molly. Their interests include cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes as well as spending time with friends and family. In his spare time Dr. Broghammer also enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, camping, and working out.
